Friday, June 21, 2024: Visit to Cold War Museum in Warrenton, VA, followed by wine tasting at Vint Hill Craft Winery.

Attendees will provide their own transportation to the Cold War Museum. The address is 7172 Lineweaver Road, Warrenton, VA 20187. The fee for this private museum showing is approximately $20 per person, depending on how many people we have. We'll pay the fee individually upon arrival. The museum visit begins at noon.

Following the museum visit, we'll enjoy a wine tasting at Vint Hill Craft Winery, adjacent to the Cold War Museum. The wine tasting is scheduled for 2:30. The cost will be $18 per person, which covers six one-ounce pours. Like the museum fee, we'll pay that individually.

If we have more than about 25 people, we will swap things around a bit. Half will do the wine tasting first, and then do the museum visit afterwards.

The Cold War Museum is housed in a historic barn at the former Vint Hill Farms Station, a military listening post from World War II through the Cold War. The museum is not as large as, say, a Smithsonian museum, but it's a fascinating place. And in a larger sense, the entire site is a museum to WWII and Cold War events that happened in our back yard. The winery is in another historic building that once served as Vint Hill's Monitoring Station #1, one of the military's most covert bases.
